As the world gets louder, I find I truly value quiet people. Not quiet in the sense that they lack opinions or values, but quiet in disposition. We've all heard the saying that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Have you noticed that there's far too much squeaking today, to the point that it's unhealthy for those of us exposed to it?
In my travels and professions, I've come to value being around people who are calming. They're interesting to speak with, and make good conversation. They talk "with" you, not "at" you.
We all need to become more like that, not only for our own health, but to break the cycle of angry noise we're pummeled with every day. Turning off TV and news is a great start. Being around peaceful people is contagious, but unlike Covid, the greater our exposure, the better we feel.
Try being a calming person this week at work, at home, and whenever you feel the inclination to join the noise. Let's become the change we need to see in our world.
Peace, friends....
