Although I love studying beautiful art created by the masters, it's not at the expense of missing "living" art when I see it. There are universal components that elevate something to art. The most beautiful paintings and sculptures were created by viewing, or envisioning, basic components of art and form.
If you don't have time to visit your local museum, which I highly recommend, at least don't miss the fleeting instances of artistic magic in the world around you. It can be someone simply moving or glancing in a way that's worthy of a painting or other lasting form of beauty. It may be something in nature whispering for your attention.
Why is this important? Because art lifts our souls above the harshness of life. It's a form of magic missed by many, but forever remembered or recreated by artists. Each of us has that ability. We only need to be intentional about what we're "looking for." Each day, make it a priority to find and appreciate beauty, and you're an artist!
