When I was growing up, I had a lot of heroes. I've aways been a dreamer, imagining what I could become. The world was a blank canvas waiting for me to paint well enough to put something meaningful on it. Now, many of my inspirations are younger than me, and are just as important. They're often found when doing my work. Let me explain.
I love working with seniors on their portraits to create magical memories. Hearing their dreams, and capturing them in artistic ways, inspires me to follow my dreams, just as older adult inspirations did when I was a boy.
The above image was taken for a senior girl a few years ago. She's been studying ballet since childhood, and continues that life-long dedication. Working with her, I could sense her dedication, and see it in her dance technique and skills. The above picture of shows the poise that carries over from becoming her best. When we dedicate ourselves to meaningful study and daily disciplines, it shows in all we do.
The take home from this is very simple. I hear so much about, and from, negative people tearing down hopes and dreams. They're loud and get most press. The antidote is to focus on achievers who inspire you. They tend to be reserved, and get little press. When searching for them, don't make the mistake of assigning age to the equation. They range from the young to the very old, and are models of dedication, caring, and character. My Mom had MS. Her daily struggles working at the simplest of human movements were my major life inspirations. We are all capable of improvements, no matter if celebrated or seen.
Be inspired by everyone striving to better themselves, and you'll become your best. You'll sit up taller in your chair, too!
