Just a reminder: Never take those "sayings" as always true. For example, the saying "Don't Look Back" or "Never Look Back" is fine when it comes to leaving sad times or mistakes behind us. There's good reason not to "dwell on the past." (That's another saying). Like all things in life, never say never. (Hey, there's another old saying!)
Once we learn the rules in life, we learn when to break them. (Not the laws. The rules.)
It's always wonderful to "look back" when it involves good memories, loved ones who are gone, or periods of our lives when we felt joy, as in childhood.
My hope for all of you today is to look back at some of the wonderful people who are no longer with you. We've all had aunts, uncles, friends, even parents for those of us who lost ours too soon. Remember the faith they had in you. Remember the times you laughed together. Remember their idiosyncrasies that endeared them to you. There will only be one of every person.
So, for a moment or two every day, you have my permission to look back, but only to remember the love and the joy. Live with others today so they'll one day want to look back at you as well. We're all passing through. Let's leave a wonderful footprint!
