There has always been heaviness in the world. My parents lived through WWII. They didn't share the nightmares the men saw in combat; that many of the wives and children were forced to press on because Dad wouldn't be coming home. Food was rationed. Gas was rationed. It was difficult to get many food and commercial items. So yes, there has always been heaviness in the world. As children, it wasn't made part of our awareness.
With the explosion of electronic media, along with decreasing tolerance of differing opinions, we've created a toxic world for children. We all must own this, and consider the effects of discouraging and doomsday attitudes on our beautiful children's hearts and minds. Let's expose children to civility and hope. We're here to water the seedlings that will grow into tomorrows trees. Flowers need water, not heavy trampling.
Let's pick up those watering cans. These beautiful, innocent eyes and smiles are looking to us for hope and stability. Let's not let them down. Along with improving their hope, we just might find we're improving ours as well!
