What we believe about ourselves is moulded by parents, peers, and today, media. We live tethered to streamed noise, telling us who and what we are. Only one person "should" tell you who and what you are, and it's you. Two things stop us from pushing beyond the scripts we've accepted about ourselves.
First is awareness that our potentials are virtually limitless. History is filled with examples of people who have overcome everything from massive handicaps to laziness, and become great at something. So can you!
Second is our acceptance of the limiting scripts our subconscious reads to us every day. We begin our day in ruts and routines simply because we feed ourselves the same, limiting thoughts. What would your day be like if you began it with thoughts like someone great in a field you want to pursue? It would be completely different. If we change our thinking, we change our lives.
So many of us are truly afraid to step beyond our comfort zones of thought and activities. Comfort does the same damage if we don't exercise our bodies. Any comfort is only temporary, since we're either getting stronger, or by default, we're getting weaker. We may also be fearing: "Will we fail?" What does the world have waiting for us if we don't put in the effort? Not much. Not much at all....
The successful understand. They possess "personal" vision and action; two traits we all have access to, but few use. Sure, we pay our bills and get through our days, but are those days all they could be to reach our full potential in the short time we're on this planet? Are we really happy just settling for short-term comfort, day after day, as our time and dreams slip away?
Let me encourage you to turn off the noise, listen to your heart about who and what you really want to be, and then convert courage and ambition into goal-directed action every day. You're so much more than you believe you are. Start tomorrow differently. Read instead of TV or media first thing. Focus on what you really want to become, and leave the days lived in a rut behind. As the Nike slogan says, "Just Do It." The only other choice is to remain unfulfilled. The world works hard every day to keep us there. It's a terrible place to live.....
