"It is more important that innocence be protected than it is that guilt be punished." - John Adams
Today, let's celebrate innocence, whether in youth, or in listening to the purest and simplest parts of our hearts and souls. One of the greatest healers is obeying the call back to that beautiful part of childhood too soon left behind, yet sometimes revisited by the old. It's not being childish or irresponsible, rather, it's rediscovering the awe and wonder of life. It's looking at the stars, watching birds float on the breeze, and respecting people as fellow travelers sharing a short journey through the magic of life.
Whenever I photograph children, I'm reminded of my mother's lessons about protecting their innocence, allowing them to remain long enough before piling worldly troubles on their shoulders, and protecting their soft hearts from the cruelties adults often exchange for sport.
Wishing everyone, everywhere, the ability to reclaim innocence.
