A nice thing about cell phones is that we're never without a camera. I took this picture yesterday while a guest at a friend's wedding. It was nice not shooting the event for a change of pace. I got to see the day from the perspective of families and myself without my photography hat on.
As much as I enjoyed the change of pace, for a moment I wished I had my camera. Then I remembered my 5 year old iPhone! Out from my pocket, I took this picture of the beautiful reception venue. The outdoor lighting could not have been more perfect. Clouds hid the sun enough to let the sky and scene all register well. I walked around the grounds and also took other images, which I may share in an upcoming blog. Phone cameras are overused for selfies. There's a whole world "out there" many miss!
Never feel like you need a great camera, or a modern cell phone, to capture nice images. It's about light, composition, color, etc. As a photographer, I have to be able to handle complex lighting. But for everyday, a cell phone camera captures bits of beauty wherever we are. It's nice ALWAYS having a camera with me. Gone are the days of having to lug around a larger, bulky item, rarely convenient to bring. Study a bit about lighting and exposure. You'll find that you already have the right camera for great images!
