I found this quote, then learned how this Australian author came to discover Indian beauty. Be sure to read on!
"Indians are the Italians of Asia, and vice versa. Every man in both countries is a singer when he is happy, and every woman is a dancer when she walks to the shop at the corner. For them, food is the music inside the body and music is the food inside the heart. Amore or Pyar makes every man a poet, a princess of a peasant girl, if only for second, the eyes of a man and woman meet." - Gregory David Roberts
Gregory David Roberts, born Gregory Smith, was a bank robber and heroin addict. After escaping Pentridge Prison in 1980, he fled to India, where he spent the next ten years. Had he not been in such life circumstances, he would have never experienced beauty found in India.
He soon wrote the novel Shantaram, paralleling his life events. Later, he returned to Mumbai to set up a charitable organization to assist the health needs of the poor. He also became engaged to the President of the Heart For India Foundation. A great lesson about how lives can be turned around if capable of reform.
Everyone has a story, including you and me. Ours won't be written in books, but in the memory of those who knew us. Some of us are blessed with long stories. Others barely get a couple chapters. Let's write our's with character, peace, grace, and respect for our brothers and sisters on planet earth. Since it can't be rewritten, let's make our story worth remembering.
